Logan Monday is a Senior at Northwest, and he is the drum major for the band.

What was your favorite high school class? Why?

“My favorite class was German with Frau W. She makes it really fun and just enjoyable to learn the language and culture. Because of this class I plan to go to Germany someday.”

What are your best high school memories?

“My best memories have been all my years in marching band. I have had unforgettable experiences like a Christmas parade in Hollywood, performed in college stadiums and [am] even traveling to Hawaii this weekend December 4. The competitions never get old and is what I’ll miss the most.”

What classes or extracurricular do you recommend to other people?

“I recommend to take at least one or two classes that you want to take. I know GPA and class rank are important, but it doesn’t have to be all or nothing. Don’t overwhelm yourself with all APs. Maybe take an honors or fun elective to give yourself a much-needed break during the day.

Does being the drum major affect you at school?

“Being drum major has introduced me to many people of all grade levels I otherwise never would have met if I hadn’t been put in this position. It has also helped me be more outspoken in my classes, whereas before I was very quiet and rarely wanted to be a leader, but now that’s what I want to strive to be.”

What in school achievements have you obtained?

“Academics wise I have consistently gotten all A’s in high school and remained in the top 10% of my classes despite taking band and a foreign language the majority of my time here.”

What college do you plan on going to?

I plan to attend UNC Chapel Hill to major in Biology and pursue a career in medicine to hopefully become an anesthesiologist in the future.
