The boys’ soccer team defeated David W. Butler High School 4-0 on March 16 during the first round of state playoffs. Sophomore Ali Al-Qaq opened the game up with a goal in the first 40 seconds from Junior Reid Rouse’s assist. Senior Braden Champion made it 2-0 with a penalty kick a few minutes later. By the 12 minute mark, the Vikings made it 3-0 with a goal by sophomore Alex Eiben and the assist by Rouse. Al-Qaq scored once more for the Vikings later in the second half with an assist by senior Ryan Malmfelt. Northwest will host Athens Drive High School in the second round of state playoffs on March 17.
