Live in New York City every week day, “The Today Show” features new guests in each episode. On April 25, Principal Ralph Kitley, wife Loretta, and daughters Elizabeth and Raven were the stars of the show.

Randomly selected from the crowd, Loretta and Elizabeth were chosen to get an “Ambush Makeover.”

“They chose my mom in the audience,” Elizabeth said. “My dad called me while I was sleeping saying we were going to be on the show. I had to quickly throw on random clothes and run to the plaza from the hotel to make it on time.”

Following the call, Elizabeth and Loretta both got makeovers, new outfits and hair cuts by the Ambush artists. With the suspense building up for about two and a half hours in preparation, their debut lasted around five minutes.

“I wasn’t really nervous while they were filming because I didn’t have time to be,” Elizabeth said. “It went by so quickly and a lot of people were really stressed, but it was fun and a super cool experience.”

During the layover while the girls were getting makeovers, the excitement continued to build.

“I went back to the hotel to get Raven,” Mr. Kitley said. “When we returned, the producer said they didn’t have the right shoes for Elizabeth and asked me to go back and get the ones she brought with her. I jogged back to the hotel again to return at 10:20, and air time was 10:30.”

Despite the stress, the family managed to create a once-in-a-lifetime memory.

“It was awesome being there and seeing so many people I wake up to almost every morning,” Mr.Kitley said. “In addition, I got to see Sting, Jay Leno and Queen Latifah.”

Also appearing the day before on April 24, the family was shown holding a sign saying “hello to our family and friends in Greensboro, NC.”

“It was already crazy being on there once,” Elizabeth said. “We had no idea that we would be on it again.
