The Spanish National Honor Society induction was held on March 6, immediately after school. This year’s induction was the largest in school history to the Society, as 32 students were newly entered into the group.

“The induction went well,” Spanish teacher Gwen Stencler said. “We have a great group of inductees this year, and our program is expanding and getting stronger each year.”

Senior and chapter President Meme Kapoor led the induction and was aided by seniors Miranda Rose and Zach Whitacre. During the meeting, inductees lit their candles and recited a poem in Spanish.

“I like how even though it is a small number of people we still had the chance to light the candles and do the motto,” senior Michael Richards, an AP Spanish student, said. “I thought it was nice that it was all done in Spanish.”

The Society requires its members to have completed through Spanish 3, have had an A in the past three semesters of Spanish, continue on to the next level and complete projects and tutoring each semester of membership.
