After the chill that came in with Hurricane Michael, students around Northwest are donning sweaters, scarves, and other similar items to fend off the cold.

To fashionistas, this time of year is referred to as “sweater weather” season.

“I love sweater weather season,” said junior Mikayla Cherry. “It allows me to try a new style.”

Cherry went on to list her favorite accessories, such as vests and sweaters.

“I like vests (like the one I have on now),” Cherry said.

Other students, such as sophomore Lindy Mitchell, preferred other garments to keep warm with.

“I like wearing plaids,” Mitchell said. “I don’t do a whole lot to change my look, but once it’s sweater weather season, I like to change into plaids, spice it up a little.”

Sophomore Emma Evan, however, had preferences about more than just the tops. With winter comes the need for boots, and Evans advised trying out different boot-lengths.

“I like both Uggs and ankle boots,” Evans said.

Junior Michelle Semaan agreed with Evans’s opinion about ankle boots.

“I prefer the short ones,” Semaan said. “But I don’t think about boots much. I prefer trying out new sweaters and jackets.”

Northwest students also used the sweater weather season as an opportunity to mix up the color schemes they wear, like Evans.

“Orange is the best color (for the season),” Evans said.

She further advised that students try out darker shades to accent the bright warm tones of the autumn.
With the various trends to try, it is no wonder that Northwest students like sweater weather.

“It’s my favorite time of year,” Mitchell said.
