1.  Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

The sandy shores of Myrtle Beach are some of the prettiest in the South. Spending the day at the beach, relaxing in the sun, or diving in for a swim are low-cost activities that can be enjoyed by everyone in the group. If you’re looking to skip the sand, Myrtle Beach has plenty of other things to do too. You can check out Broadway at the Beach or the Tanger Outlet Center. Both of these offer plenty of shopping options and many lively restaurants.

Senior Emma Taney is going to Myrtle Beach over spring break with a group of friends. She is planning on relaxing on the beach if it’s warm enough and going shopping.

“Myrtle Beach is so much fun for spring break because you can hang with your friends and relax,” Taney said.

2.  Siesta Key Beach, Florida

Siesta Key, Florida is a great location to spend your spring break. It is located about 10 miles south of Sarasota on Florida’s Gulf Coast. Siesta Beach is renowned for its fine, white sandy beaches. There are plenty of things to do that will make your day fun and exciting. There are several interesting locations to visit, countless places to eat, and great hotels to stay at. There are also hundreds of different species of fish. Fishing is a very popular hobby and sport in Siesta Key. In addition, Siesta Key has plenty of exciting activities for you to enjoy, such as parasailing or paddle boarding.

3. Cozumel, Mexico

Mexico is known as one of the top Spring Break destinations every year. If you are looking for a good mix of relaxation and fun during your Spring Break, Cozumel might be the perfect fit for you. Between the unbelievable snorkeling and diving spots scattered throughout, and the shopping, there is so much to do during the day. There are also plenty of historical sights to see among the Mayan ruins.

Senior Sarah Simaan is going on a cruise with a few of her friends. Cozumel is just one of their many stops the cruise ship is making.

“I’m so excited because I get to go with some of my close friends and I get to see different cultural traditions,” Simaan said. “Also, I’ll get a good tan.”

4.  Nassau, Bahamas

The city of Nassau is the heart and capital of The Bahamas. Nassau boasts miles of spectacular beaches, stretches of vivid coral reefs perfect for snorkeling, outdoor adventures like swimming with dolphins and oceanfront dining. You will find nothing but clear blue water, soft white sand and sunshine as far as the eye can see. Whether you’re looking for a vacation packed with activities, or to lay around on the beach most of the time, Nassau offers both.

5. Paris, France

Paris has a lot to offer: the Eiffel Tower, the Sacré-Cœur Cathedral, Notre-Dame, the Louvre. It is a beautiful city with elegant architecture, sophisticated shopping and beautiful artwork. There’s something for everyone in Paris – history, art, famous landmarks, and fabulous food. France also has an array of great beaches for anyone willing to take a train out of Paris for a few hours.

Senior Cami Howard is just one of many Northwest students going on a trip to Europe over spring break with Mr. Wertz. Cami is very excited about visiting Paris, along with many other spectacular cities.

“I can’t wait to go see the artwork and experience the cultural differences,” said Howard. “I can’t wait to learn about all of the different cultures and history in each city I go to.”
