As week 10 wraps up, the NFL has been rife with upsets, injuries, and surprises. Here is an update on the performances of NFL athletes and teams.

 

Highflyers:

Philadelphia Eagles: Following a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in week two, the Eagles are atop the NFL standings with an 8-1 record. The Eagles are led by Quarterback, Carson Wentz who has a position rank of 1 after week 10, throwing for 270 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Eagles appear to be Super Bowl contenders for the NFC Conference.

Le’veon Bell: The Pittsburgh Steelers running back had an underperforming first two games but bounced back with major performances against the Baltimore Ravens and the Kansas City Chiefs.

“The beginning of the season, he was slacking but now he’s picked up [his game]” junior Logan Thompson said.

 

Flops:

Julio Jones: The Atlanta Falcons wide receiver has had up and down performances. Jones has had his big performances against the New England Patriots and the Carolina Panthers, earning a combined total of 41 Fantasy points; however, Jones has had opportunities to win major games and has dropped big passes to win games.

“Everyone thought he was going to be good, but he’s not really earning any points,” Thompson said.

Johnathan Stewart: The Carolina Panthers running back has become the number 2 running back to rookie Christian McCaffery, had a great week 1 performance against the San Francisco 49ers, but has an average of 4.25 Fantasy points over eight games. Stewart is looking to regain his form with his 11 point performance against the Miami Dolphins.

 

Notable Injuries:

Desean Watson: The rookie quarterback from the University of Clemson, Watson made his impact in week 3 against the New England Patriots with over 300 passing yards and three touchdowns. However, Watson suffered a torn ACL during week nine and will miss the rest of the season.

“It is a giant loss,” Wise said. “He’s been doing really well lately, averaging around 30 [Fantasy] points per game.”

David Johnson: One of the biggest stars in the NFL, David Johnson was looking to have another standout season with the Arizona Cardinals, but broke his wrist in week one. Johnson is hoping to return by Thanksgiving or early December.

 

As the ending of the regular season is 6 weeks away, everyone is trying to play the most dominant and top performing players to make the Fantasy playoffs. Wise is confident that he will make the playoffs.

“The beginning of every season, everyone wants to go to the playoffs. I think that’s manageable for me” senior Seth Wise said.
