The United States is divided more than ever. The Senate is in turmoil.

Senator Jeff Flake of Arizona announced Oct. 24 that he would not pursue reelection and was leaving the Senate because there wasn’t room for him under President Trump.

“It is time for our complicity and our accommodation for the unacceptable to end,” Flake said in his retirement speech to the Senate floor. “There are times when we must risk our careers in favor of our principles. Now is such a time.”

In the last few months, other senators have spoken out against Trump because they believe he bringing America down.

Flake had an interview with The Guardian, which states that Flake isn’t the only senator who thinks Trump is dangerous for our economy. When Flake announced his retirement he also gave a powerful speech about how Republicans have given up and letting this go.

“We must never allow ourselves to lapse into thinking that that is just the way things are now,” he added. “We must stop pretending that the degradation of our politics and the conduct of some in our executive branch are normal.”

Flake thinks behavior like would kill our democracy and would corrupt our nation. Flake was really passionate about his statement on the Senate floor. What will happen to the next generation if we continue down this path?

Senator Bob Corker announced his retirement in September because of that Trump and Corker been in a feud over it.

Bob Corker on NBC’s today show described Trump as an “untruthful president”.

In the interview on CNN Corker said ” “I don’t know why he lowers himself to such a low, low standard and debases our country in that way but he does.”

On daily White House briefing Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the White House press secretary, who dismissed accusation by Flake and Corker.

“Look, I think the voters of these individual senators’ states are speaking in pretty loud volumes,” she said. “I think they were not likely to be re-elected and I think that shows the support is more behind this president than it is those two individuals.”

Also, we have Sebastian Gorka, the former adviser at the white house called accusations made by Corker and Flake “disgraceful behavior”.

“I can’t remember in modern history a serving senator casting such aspersions about the current commander-in-chief, who is from the same party as himself … They have realized that winds of change are blowing through the body politic, so they’ve bowed out rather disgracefully,” Former adviser at white house Gorka said.
