Every individual or team sport requires certain attire to be worn for practices and game days. Athletes look for style as well as comfort when picking out what clothes to wear for practice.

However, with many practices during the week, athletes may be short clothes and must wear clothes multiple times during a week.

“If we have multiple races, I might wear the jersey a couple times,” junior Nolan Carr said. “But I have enough shirts and socks to last me all week.”

Comfort is an important part of an athlete’s wardrobe, so they often make sure that they pack their bags with comfortable clothes.

“Usually I just wear athletic shorts, compression shorts and running shoes” senior Ian Russo said.

Nike and ADIDAS are the front runners when it comes to sporting apparel. They are known for being comfortable, stylish and durable. Usually, the most common outfit for a practice is dri-fit compression material that absorbs sweat and can keep you cool in the summer and insulates heat during the winter.

“ADIDAS has good designs especially their shoes,” Russo said.

White uniforms are required by the state athletic association to be worn by the home team. This makes home jerseys almost impossible to clean when they get dirty. There often includes a long process of rinsing, soaking, and washing with powerful detergent and soap to remove stains so that a uniform is clean for the next game.

“I sometimes fall down and get dirty,” Russo said. “Getting the dirt out [is] kind of [a pain].”

With most teams getting new jersey’s almost every year, students on whole are pleased with the new sports wear.

“[The jersey] is comfortable,” Carr said. “The [cross country] team got new red jerseys for both boys and girls.”

Being on the cross-country team, Carr says that he never has a problem with cleaning his uniform.

“You’re not really getting dirty other than when you run and sweat.”
