Students in Northwest participate in many extracurricular activities. Freshman Kema Leonard spends his time acting. Starring in the Northwest production of Seussical as Horton, Leonard explains what it is like to be an actor.

 

Q: How long have you been acting?

A: I have been acting about four years on and off.

 

Q: What brought you to start acting?

A: I was in chorus and my chorus teacher was an actress. She said I would be good at it so I tried it and I fell in love with it.

 

Q: Where did you start acting?

A: I started officially at CTG, Community Theatre of Greensboro.

 

Q: What are some performances you’ve been in?

A: I did Godspell, and I am doing Seussical right now at the school. I’m Horton, the elephant.

 

Q: Do you plan of pursuing this as a career?

A: I think it is more of a hobby. If I go to college, this would be more of something I would minor in. I like business and finance, which is what I would like to major in, but this is something I want to do when I retire.

 

Q: Do you have any other hobbies?

A: Yes, I love to sing, I love to dance, and I love Taekwondo.
